Good post. My only comment is your observation that God "forbids" us from accumulating. I'd suggest a more apt expression of God's attitude might be that He warns against the spiritual pitfalls in having such an attitude, doesn't actually forbid it.

This letter Lovingly compels us all to face the truth about how our over-abundance of wealth and worldly possessions and the misappropriation of those things can lead us away from faithful obedience and trust in the LORD. We can't Love GOD and the world at the same time. It's either one or the other. It becomes a choice of obedience or disobedience. Yes, we all must have this same conviction as is stated here-------- "to obey His commands, even if doing so would make me stick out from the people around me, lose friends, be hated, mocked, misunderstood and ridiculed for doing so." They said, "Surely I have become rich, I have found wealth for myself."
We see that Ephraim's wealth had blinded them to their sinful condition. They said, "I have found wealth for myself." They had become selfish and unaware that they had done anything wrong. Truly, they had fallen into sin, no longer concerned with pleasing the LORD but only themselves, no longer humbly pursuing what was right in the sight of the LORD. Their riches caused them to stop putting all their trust in the LORD alone.
"The church of Laodicea"
"And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: 'The words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God's creation.
"I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth. The church in Laodicea said, "I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing." Here, we see again how their wealth had the same effect on the Laodiceans as on Ephraim, the tribe of Israel (Hosea 12:8). Their riches had blinded them of their actual condition. It caused the people to think they were (self-sufficient) independent of the LORD's care and no longer needed to depend upon the LORD to provide for all their needs. They fell into a sinful, delusional state of no longer completely trusting in GOD, so the LORD said of them that they were wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked, making it known to them that they were lukewarm and blind to their condition and needed to repent of their sins and turn back to the LORD, their first Love.
Jesus gave them this offer as He said: "I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, so that you may be rich."
Everything we need that will last forever is in Christ Jesus, our LORD.
"And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19 ESV
"IT'S A CONDITION OF THE HEART."
"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Matthew 6:21
The LORD is concerned with the condition of our hearts. What are our true motives? Do we trust GOD alone to provide for our needs or only rely on ourselves? Is our focus on Heaven above or Earth below? Putting Treasures in Heaven or accumulating treasures on Earth. Are we looking forward to Heaven as we journey through this life, or are we only worried about the cares of this world and what it has to offer?
"Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the Love of the Father is not in him." 1 John 2:15 ESV.
This verse above says it plainly. It is not easy to digest. It's the line in the sand. Meaning, what side are we on? Which one do we love more? The things of the world or our Father in Heaven?
This letter of Hephzibah's "Through the eye of the needle" has come at the perfect moment because it's connected to something else, we need to understand presently, which will help us persevere through the storms upon us now and those coming because we are in Perilous times beloved.
"This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come." 2 Timothy 3:1 KJB.
As I prayed and asked the LORD what this all meant, my heart became overwhelmed with the burden of knowing what would come upon this world as revealed in the Bible. The tears and hardship that will happen suddenly in our future will be like what just occurred here in the United States. Last week, a 100-year storm (Helene) devastated North Carolina and surrounding areas. Everyone was going about their everyday life. Until the clouds on the horizon started to darken, they heard of a big storm coming but didn't expect it to be that bad. In a single moment, many people died, the young and the old. The storm instantly took all their worldly possessions away. Nothing was left behind to comfort those still alive. For them, everything changed forever, never to be the same.
"An alert to everyone"
Now is the time to put all our "trust in the LORD" instead of in the things of this world. Now more than ever. Dear beloved, we must draw near to our GOD and stay near to Him. Let all that is happening now bring us to the place of completely trusting in the LORD, to be reminded that the LORD is our keeper. He is our Salvation.
"The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?" Psalm 27:1 ESV
For all those still abiding close to the LORD, be encouraged to keep seeking Him and doing what is pleasing in His sight, and to those who have fallen into sin and have wandered astray, the LORD is calling you back. Come, He is waiting for you with open, Loving arms. Now listen to all those who have yet to meet the LORD, come, repent of your sins, cry out to GOD asking for forgiveness and receive His Salvation, being born again, and becoming filled with the Holy Spirit before it's too late because Jesus is your only hope to be saved forever.

This encouragement that says "Don't be afraid" was written last Sunday, 10/ 6/24, as a reminder not to fear what is happening or what will happen but to keep your faith in the LORD now and through the coming storms.
Fear will not overwhelm us if we continue to "trust in the LORD," rest in His care, believe in His promises, abide under the shadow of His protective wings, and keep our eyes focused on Him to lead us through all our problems now and the coming storms ahead.
As our world becomes darker by the moment, we all need to understand how important it is to draw closer to the LORD daily, knowing as Christians, we have been rescued from this evil world already. We have been given the Holy Spirit to live and dwell within us. We no longer walk in darkness because we follow Jesus.
"Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, "I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won't have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life." John 8:12 NLT
Listen, brothers and sisters in the LORD's family, we are all here in this time of world apocalypse for a reason. Now is the time to tell everyone around us who are yet saved that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. He is the answer to all the world's problems and is coming soon because He is the King of Kings, the Prince of Peace, and the only One who can save now and forever.

Let what is happening now and the days ahead cause us to put our dependence on the LORD, not the fallen systems of the world. Fear of coming global hardships, fear of Man-made disasters, and the proliferation of lawlessness everywhere will cause us all to become afraid. We must be reminded more than ever that our GOD is Sovereign. Even though everything seems to be in complete chaos, it's not. All world events are in our GOD'S control, the good or the bad. Every detail is not out of order. What is happening now has been planned long ago. We will need to trust in the LORD now like never before.
"Yes, the Sovereign LORD is coming in power. He will rule with a powerful arm. See, he brings his reward with him as he comes." Isaiah 40:10 NLT

Absolute sovereignty: total control over everything, good or bad, meaning all things that happen are in subjection to GOD, having complete dominion over all things, events, and all creation, supreme without limitations, eternal, almighty, only the LORD alone is truly Sovereign.
Fear: panic, distress, unrest, nervousness, dread, worry, anxiety, doubt in the LORD to continue to care for us in the storm.
"The LORD is Sovereign. Don't be afraid."
Jesus asks us, "Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?"
Mark 4:35-41 NLT "As evening came, Jesus said to his disciples, "Let's cross to the other side of the lake." So they took Jesus in the boat and started out, leaving the crowds behind (although other boats followed). But soon a fierce storm came up. High waves were breaking into the boat, and it began to fill with water.
Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion. The disciples woke him up, shouting, "Teacher, don't you care that we're going to drown?"
When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, "Silence! Be still!" Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm. Then he asked them, "Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?"
The disciples were absolutely terrified. "Who is this man?" they asked each other. "Even the wind and waves obey him!"
"Why are we afraid? Do we still have no faith?"
Should we be afraid of anything that threatens us when the LORD has complete control over everything? Is He not still Sovereign? Are we not in His care even when disaster comes upon us? If it doesn't appear, the LORD is still in control. He is because His plans are always perfect.
We think everything in our lives must be problem-free for us to be in GOD's loving care. We ask ourselves, aren't we those blessed by the LORD and living an abundant life? Haven't we been chosen to be a part of His Kingdom? Yes, this is why we are in this storm. To cause us to trust Him more when all seems lost. Do we truly have faith? Do we really believe that GOD Loves us?
"These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world." 1 Peter 1:7 NLT
The storms are for our benefit, not to make us less but more, not weaker but stronger, to turn our sufferings into us being more steadfast, better able to persevere. Does the LORD still Love us? Yes, even more than we can understand, so where is our faith? Are we still afraid?
"Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing." James 1:2-4 ESV
Don't be afraid because the LORD is still with us. Yes, He will never leave us!

Thank you for such important and encouraging words John and yes that's all true. Even now we are spiritually either being marked by Heavenly father or by the beast. I see though those not allowing themselves to be marked by the beast are the ones who are more likely to be slaughtered than the ones who do. The ones who do take the mark of the beast obviously are marked for destruction and into to the lake of fire for eternity. It saddens surprises amazes and confounds me how a person can read something without even being able to actually understand or grasp it, & fails to.
Frank did exactly that invested but not for self but to enable to give. Obviously the blessings we receive we are to steward out, not utilising it for our own selfish carnal pleasures or for self gain or self accumulation, but what we have received from heavenly father, we are to give. Did you even bother to read this paragraph?
To summarize, it seems clear that Jesus’ command in Matthew 6:19 (“lay not up”) is a command not to accumulate wealth on this earth. It does not appear that our Lord is placing limits on the amount of money we earn. Rather, he is restricting what we do (personally) with that money once we have earned it. It means wisely giving and for the needs of God's kingdom and consulting Heavenly father where He needs us to bless others and being guided & led by His Holy Spirit and then being obedient to it's leadings and what He asks of us & where He needs us to steward and give.
Most today in the west haven't got a clue what poverty even actually is. And the modern explanations through encouraging in making yourself prosperous through the gospel is merely of greed & selfishness & the feeding of the desires of the carnal flesh and this is certainly NOT of or from Heavenly father, and is not the teachings as laid out by Jesus as the good news of the gospel about Him and His kingdom at all. Not is it walking according to the spirit but is if the flesh. As Jesus stated stop making my father's house into a house of business!
It is only those who have considered Jesus and the commands of Christ better than the treasures of the present world. Blessed are they who are poor (humble, meek) for righteousness sake, it is only truly those who understand the discipline of the way of the cross, have learned to be humble and who on account of the Holy spirit are poor by freely willing to be so, in the sense of always storing up for themselves treasures in heaven, because where your treasure is there your heart will be also, and those obeying Jesus’ commands give to the poor and needy, and brothers and sisters in need, the widows and orphans and despise repent and renounce all selfishness & sins of greed & of covetousness. So obviously to give, you have had to receive in the first place God's blessings, because everything belongs to God, everything we do have & receive upon this realm & dimension is only on loan to us from our father in heaven and He teaches us how He needs us to utilise and steward what is all His in the first place, after meeting our needs.
Now godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content.

We are to learn to be content with food and raiment. whatever the circumstances. To know what it is to be in need, and know what it is to have plenty. To have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.
We are told to guard ourselves from all covetousness and it is a sin to desire things of more than what we already have, that all our needs not greeds will be provided for. That our first pursuit is to be God and His kingdom and his righteousness, then all these other things will be added unto you, our pursuit is not for the love or pursuit of money, and the love of money is the root of all evil and you cannot serve God and money! It's either one or the other. You cannot slave for two masters either you will hate the one and love the other. To keep our eye single and to be full of God's light. No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

Instead of allowing heavenly father in Christ Jesus define their entire life, being mind heart soul and body guided and led by the holy Spirit, they allow culture, they're flesh & others to define what that means. The west especially are taught not to think of other people before themselves.
The nomadic & wilderness lifestyle of the sojourner, the stranger, the pilgrim that we are meant to be as just passing through this realm and dimension as a citizens of heaven is the complete opposite of what most who say they are Christians now live.
We have been taught to value ‘things,’ and these ‘things’ are our wealth. To a nomad, a pilgrim a sojourner a citizen of Heaven of God's kingdom, having ‘things,’ was not important. When you had to carry around everything you owned, not much was retained. Abraham’s wealth walked on its own. Solomon and his accumulation of wealth in the form of possessions led to Israel’s downfall. This is one area where one can easily see how a non greedy and non accumulation lifestyle leads to a correct Godly and grasping Jesus' belief/worldview of how to be a good steward. If you cannot have a lot of possessions, you will no longer think about accumulating them. Things become less important. In western culture, accumulation is everything, we are taught to be good consumers and we hope our children are even better consumers that we are. We have our homes filled with stuff, most of which is useless junk, some of which we pack in boxes when we move and stays packed until the next move. Yet sadly many become so attached to their ‘stuff’ that they become their entire identity. The process of divesting ourselves of all our useless junk is difficult, but all that ‘stuff’ merely takes up time and space in our lives that could be better spent on other things and to those genuinely in need. That is the entire point that we are called to steward out what we receive.
We are living in an age when the Pax Americana is coming to an end and socialist western democracies are deteriorating under their own weight. Economic uncertainty, civil unrest and political deterioration may make the wealthy western lifestyle untenable in the future. To many, this will be a crushing blow. To those who think wealth is their entitled right as westerners and indeed for many greedy Western Christians, this will indeed be their true test of faith...
To the sojourner, it is an opportunity. For people who know how to live the way of Jesus Christ and for whom wealth accumulation is a distant secondary concern, the economic travails that surround us are of little import. A sojourner is free to follow the truths as laid out by God in Christ Jesus & are not just survivors but thrivers living life abundantly and know how to maintain a fulfilling lifestyle & of contentment, regardless of external circumstances & situations. It is their ever closer walk with God, wisdom of experience, interdependence, faith and implicit trust in God, knowing Him, and the ability to adapt that makes them so. It is a life that has developed and continues to develop godly character and puts us in touch with that which is beyond us. In our times, it is a way of life, the way of the Living Christ Jesus, as the truth & the life that we should all be considering seriously, putting into practice and living out daily all He has commanded of us.
The kingdom of God is not food or drink, but righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. Rom 14:17 When we don't keep account of the wrongs of others, reconciling enemies, but also cultivating peace with others & through intercessory prayers, having subdued & tamed the law that wars against the resolution of the mind, taming the menaces of anger, the baits of lust, & all the other passions that war against the mind.
Wether we are upholding all God's commands and being doers of all He asks of us and not hearers only. Awestruck and trembling at the commandments of God. (Is 66:2, Matt 23:23)
To be found living as Jesus teaches us in all areas & matters, knowing if we are not our prayers are hindered, eagerly living out the confines of our happiness under the discipline of the way of the cross, having learnt to be humble, poor in spirit on account of the Holy Spirit, being poor by freely willing to be so. Lowering ourselves, not thinking ourselves better than another, contrite in mind & heart. Hungering & thirsting after righteousness with every ounce of energy and passion that we have and thinking of nothing else until we are satisfied, pursuing it with all our desire. As the hart pants after the waterbrook, so my soul pants after you, O God.
My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. Psalm 42:1-2
Our souls will not be filled by God until we are passionate about loving Him with our whole mind heart, soul and with all of our strength and loving our neighbours as ourselves & pursuing His righteousness and panting after our father in heavens own heart, truths and attributes.

What are the consequences for not obeying Christ's commands?

I appreciate what you’ve written but wonder if this view of wealth is maybe more nuanced than what you’ve presented.
- Proverbs 10:22: “The blessing of the Lord brings wealth, without painful toil for it”
- Proverbs 3:9-10: “Honor the Lord with your wealth… then your barns will be filled to overflowing”
- Deuteronomy 8:18: “Remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to produce wealth”
How many prophets/leaders in the bible were wealthy? Solomon, Abraham, Isaac, Daniel, Joseph.
Like almost everything Christ taught, you have to pay attention to the nuance, and turn away from the dogma. Jesus abhorred legalism, a perfect example being the Sabbath. “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath”.
In your story, if Frank returned to America and setup a non-profit which used the proceeds of his investment income to feed the poor, could it be said he was not serving God? If God had told him to buy apple stock? If he didn’t care about his material possessions?
How can we serve God if we can’t properly take care of ourselves, our families and communities? I would much rather be able to gift a friend in need money than tell them I have nothing because I have an incomplete view of Christian wealth.
Is it difficult for a man to accumulate wealth without money becoming his master? Infinitely, the path is narrow. Does it mean that we should live like paupers and rely on others to provide for us? No.
Good post. My only comment is your observation that God "forbids" us from accumulating. I'd suggest a more apt expression of God's attitude might be that He warns against the spiritual pitfalls in having such an attitude, doesn't actually forbid it.

We can't Love GOD and the world at the same time. It's either one or the other. It becomes a choice of obedience or disobedience. Yes, we all must have this same conviction as is stated here-------- "to obey His commands, even if doing so would make me stick out from the people around me, lose friends, be hated, mocked, misunderstood and ridiculed for doing so." YES, let this be our battle song as we fight the good fight set before us.

We see that Ephraim's wealth had blinded them to their sinful condition. They said, "I have found wealth for myself." They had become selfish and unaware that they had done anything wrong. Truly, they had fallen into sin, no longer concerned with pleasing the LORD but only themselves, no longer humbly pursuing what was right in the sight of the LORD. Their riches caused them to stop putting all their trust in the LORD alone.
"The church of Laodicea"
"And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: 'The words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God's creation.
"I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth. The church in Laodicea said, "I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing." Here, we see again how their wealth had the same effect on the Laodiceans as on Ephraim, the tribe of Israel (Hosea 12:8). Their riches had blinded them of their actual condition. It caused the people to think they were (self-sufficient) independent of the LORD's care and no longer needed to depend upon the LORD to provide for all their needs. They fell into a sinful, delusional state of no longer completely trusting in GOD, so the LORD said of them that they were wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked, making it known to them that they were lukewarm and blind to their condition and needed to repent of their sins and turn back to the LORD, their first Love.
Jesus gave them this offer as He said: "I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, so that you may be rich."
Everything we need that will last forever is in Christ Jesus, our LORD.
"And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19 ESV
"IT'S A CONDITION OF THE HEART."
"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Matthew 6:21
The LORD is concerned with the condition of our hearts. What are our true motives? Do we trust GOD alone to provide for our needs or only rely on ourselves? Is our focus on Heaven above or Earth below? Putting Treasures in Heaven or accumulating treasures on Earth. Are we looking forward to Heaven as we journey through this life, or are we only worried about the cares of this world and what it has to offer?
"Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the Love of the Father is not in him." 1 John 2:15 ESV.
This verse above says it plainly. It is not easy to digest. It's the line in the sand. Meaning, what side are we on? Which one do we love more? The things of the world or our Father in Heaven?
This letter of Hephzibah's "Through the eye of the needle" has come at the perfect moment because it's connected to something else, we need to understand presently, which will help us persevere through the storms upon us now and those coming because we are in Perilous times beloved.
"This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come." 2 Timothy 3:1 KJB.
As I prayed and asked the LORD what this all meant, my heart became overwhelmed with the burden of knowing what would come upon this world as revealed in the Bible. The tears and hardship that will happen suddenly in our future will be like what just occurred here in the United States. Last week, a 100-year storm (Helene) devastated North Carolina and surrounding areas. Everyone was going about their everyday life. Until the clouds on the horizon started to darken, they heard of a big storm coming but didn't expect it to be that bad. In a single moment, many people died, the young and the old. The storm instantly took all their worldly possessions away. Nothing was left behind to comfort those still alive. For them, everything changed forever, never to be the same.
"An alert to everyone"
Now is the time to put all our "trust in the LORD" instead of in the things of this world. Now more than ever. Dear beloved, we must draw near to our GOD and stay near to Him. Let all that is happening now bring us to the place of completely trusting in the LORD, to be reminded that the LORD is our keeper. He is our Salvation.
"The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?" Psalm 27:1 ESV
For all those still abiding close to the LORD, be encouraged to keep seeking Him and doing what is pleasing in His sight, and to those who have fallen into sin and have wandered astray, the LORD is calling you back. Come, He is waiting for you with open, Loving arms. Now listen to all those who have yet to meet the LORD, come, repent of your sins, cry out to GOD asking for forgiveness and receive His Salvation, being born again, and becoming filled with the Holy Spirit before it's too late because Jesus is your only hope to be saved forever.

"Don't be afraid"
This encouragement that says "Don't be afraid" was written last Sunday, 10/ 6/24, as a reminder not to fear what is happening or what will happen but to keep your faith in the LORD now and through the coming storms.
Fear will not overwhelm us if we continue to "trust in the LORD," rest in His care, believe in His promises, abide under the shadow of His protective wings, and keep our eyes focused on Him to lead us through all our problems now and the coming storms ahead.
As our world becomes darker by the moment, we all need to understand how important it is to draw closer to the LORD daily, knowing as Christians, we have been rescued from this evil world already. We have been given the Holy Spirit to live and dwell within us. We no longer walk in darkness because we follow Jesus.
"Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, "I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won't have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life." John 8:12 NLT
Listen, brothers and sisters in the LORD's family, we are all here in this time of world apocalypse for a reason. Now is the time to tell everyone around us who are yet saved that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. He is the answer to all the world's problems and is coming soon because He is the King of Kings, the Prince of Peace, and the only One who can save now and forever.
"Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand." Isaiah 41:10 NLT
Let what is happening now and the days ahead cause us to put our dependence on the LORD, not the fallen systems of the world. Fear of coming global hardships, fear of Man-made disasters, and the proliferation of lawlessness everywhere will cause us all to become afraid. We must be reminded more than ever that our GOD is Sovereign. Even though everything seems to be in complete chaos, it's not. All world events are in our GOD'S control, the good or the bad. Every detail is not out of order. What is happening now has been planned long ago. We will need to trust in the LORD now like never before.
"Yes, the Sovereign LORD is coming in power. He will rule with a powerful arm. See, he brings his reward with him as he comes." Isaiah 40:10 NLT
"REMEMBER! these words."
Absolute sovereignty: total control over everything, good or bad, meaning all things that happen are in subjection to GOD, having complete dominion over all things, events, and all creation, supreme without limitations, eternal, almighty, only the LORD alone is truly Sovereign.
Fear: panic, distress, unrest, nervousness, dread, worry, anxiety, doubt in the LORD to continue to care for us in the storm.
"The LORD is Sovereign. Don't be afraid."
Jesus asks us, "Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?"
Mark 4:35-41 NLT "As evening came, Jesus said to his disciples, "Let's cross to the other side of the lake." So they took Jesus in the boat and started out, leaving the crowds behind (although other boats followed). But soon a fierce storm came up. High waves were breaking into the boat, and it began to fill with water.
Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion. The disciples woke him up, shouting, "Teacher, don't you care that we're going to drown?"
When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, "Silence! Be still!" Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm. Then he asked them, "Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?"
The disciples were absolutely terrified. "Who is this man?" they asked each other. "Even the wind and waves obey him!"
"Why are we afraid? Do we still have no faith?"
Should we be afraid of anything that threatens us when the LORD has complete control over everything? Is He not still Sovereign? Are we not in His care even when disaster comes upon us? If it doesn't appear, the LORD is still in control. He is because His plans are always perfect.
We think everything in our lives must be problem-free for us to be in GOD's loving care. We ask ourselves, aren't we those blessed by the LORD and living an abundant life? Haven't we been chosen to be a part of His Kingdom? Yes, this is why we are in this storm. To cause us to trust Him more when all seems lost. Do we truly have faith? Do we really believe that GOD Loves us?
"These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world." 1 Peter 1:7 NLT
The storms are for our benefit, not to make us less but more, not weaker but stronger, to turn our sufferings into us being more steadfast, better able to persevere. Does the LORD still Love us? Yes, even more than we can understand, so where is our faith? Are we still afraid?
"Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing." James 1:2-4 ESV
Don't be afraid because the LORD is still with us. Yes, He will never leave us!

It saddens surprises amazes and confounds me how a person can read something without even being able to actually understand or grasp it, & fails to.
Frank did exactly that invested but not for self but to enable to give. Obviously the blessings we receive we are to steward out, not utilising it for our own selfish carnal pleasures or for self gain or self accumulation, but what we have received from heavenly father, we are to give. Did you even bother to read this paragraph?
To summarize, it seems clear that Jesus’ command in Matthew 6:19 (“lay not up”) is a command not to accumulate wealth on this earth. It does not appear that our Lord is placing limits on the amount of money we earn. Rather, he is restricting what we do (personally) with that money once we have earned it. It means wisely giving and for the needs of God's kingdom and consulting Heavenly father where He needs us to bless others and being guided & led by His Holy Spirit and then being obedient to it's leadings and what He asks of us & where He needs us to steward and give.
Most today in the west haven't got a clue what poverty even actually is. And the modern explanations through encouraging in making yourself prosperous through the gospel is merely of greed & selfishness & the feeding of the desires of the carnal flesh and this is certainly NOT of or from Heavenly father, and is not the teachings as laid out by Jesus as the good news of the gospel about Him and His kingdom at all. Not is it walking according to the spirit but is if the flesh. As Jesus stated stop making my father's house into a house of business!
It is only those who have considered Jesus and the commands of Christ better than the treasures of the present world. Blessed are they who are poor (humble, meek) for righteousness sake, it is only truly those who understand the discipline of the way of the cross, have learned to be humble and who on account of the Holy spirit are poor by freely willing to be so, in the sense of always storing up for themselves treasures in heaven, because where your treasure is there your heart will be also, and those obeying Jesus’ commands give to the poor and needy, and brothers and sisters in need, the widows and orphans and despise repent and renounce all selfishness & sins of greed & of covetousness. So obviously to give, you have had to receive in the first place God's blessings, because everything belongs to God, everything we do have & receive upon this realm & dimension is only on loan to us from our father in heaven and He teaches us how He needs us to utilise and steward what is all His in the first place, after meeting our needs.

Instead of allowing heavenly father in Christ Jesus define their entire life, being mind heart soul and body guided and led by the holy Spirit, they allow culture, they're flesh & others to define what that means. The west especially are taught not to think of other people before themselves.
The nomadic & wilderness lifestyle of the sojourner, the stranger, the pilgrim that we are meant to be as just passing through this realm and dimension as a citizens of heaven is the complete opposite of what most who say they are Christians now live.
We have been taught to value ‘things,’ and these ‘things’ are our wealth. To a nomad, a pilgrim a sojourner a citizen of Heaven of God's kingdom, having ‘things,’ was not important. When you had to carry around everything you owned, not much was retained. Abraham’s wealth walked on its own. Solomon and his accumulation of wealth in the form of possessions led to Israel’s downfall. This is one area where one can easily see how a non greedy and non accumulation lifestyle leads to a correct Godly and grasping Jesus' belief/worldview of how to be a good steward. If you cannot have a lot of possessions, you will no longer think about accumulating them. Things become less important. In western culture, accumulation is everything, we are taught to be good consumers and we hope our children are even better consumers that we are. We have our homes filled with stuff, most of which is useless junk, some of which we pack in boxes when we move and stays packed until the next move. Yet sadly many become so attached to their ‘stuff’ that they become their entire identity. The process of divesting ourselves of all our useless junk is difficult, but all that ‘stuff’ merely takes up time and space in our lives that could be better spent on other things and to those genuinely in need. That is the entire point that we are called to steward out what we receive.
We are living in an age when the Pax Americana is coming to an end and socialist western democracies are deteriorating under their own weight. Economic uncertainty, civil unrest and political deterioration may make the wealthy western lifestyle untenable in the future. To many, this will be a crushing blow. To those who think wealth is their entitled right as westerners and indeed for many greedy Western Christians, this will indeed be their true test of faith...
To the sojourner, it is an opportunity. For people who know how to live the way of Jesus Christ and for whom wealth accumulation is a distant secondary concern, the economic travails that surround us are of little import. A sojourner is free to follow the truths as laid out by God in Christ Jesus & are not just survivors but thrivers living life abundantly and know how to maintain a fulfilling lifestyle & of contentment, regardless of external circumstances & situations. It is their ever closer walk with God, wisdom of experience, interdependence, faith and implicit trust in God, knowing Him, and the ability to adapt that makes them so. It is a life that has developed and continues to develop godly character and puts us in touch with that which is beyond us. In our times, it is a way of life, the way of the Living Christ Jesus, as the truth & the life that we should all be considering seriously, putting into practice and living out daily all He has commanded of us.
The kingdom of God is not food or drink, but righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. Rom 14:17 When we don't keep account of the wrongs of others, reconciling enemies, but also cultivating peace with others & through intercessory prayers, having subdued & tamed the law that wars against the resolution of the mind, taming the menaces of anger, the baits of lust, & all the other passions that war against the mind.
Wether we are upholding all God's commands and being doers of all He asks of us and not hearers only. Awestruck and trembling at the commandments of God. (Is 66:2, Matt 23:23)
To be found living as Jesus teaches us in all areas & matters, knowing if we are not our prayers are hindered, eagerly living out the confines of our happiness under the discipline of the way of the cross, having learnt to be humble, poor in spirit on account of the Holy Spirit, being poor by freely willing to be so. Lowering ourselves, not thinking ourselves better than another, contrite in mind & heart. Hungering & thirsting after righteousness with every ounce of energy and passion that we have and thinking of nothing else until we are satisfied, pursuing it with all our desire. Our souls will not be filled by God until we are passionate about loving Him with our whole mind heart, soul and with all of our strength and loving our neighbours as ourselves & pursuing His righteousness and panting after our father in heavens own heart, truths and attributes.

- Proverbs 10:22: “The blessing of the Lord brings wealth, without painful toil for it”

- Deuteronomy 8:18: “Remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to produce wealth”
How many prophets/leaders in the bible were wealthy? Solomon, Abraham, Isaac, Daniel, Joseph.
Like almost everything Christ taught, you have to pay attention to the nuance, and turn away from the dogma. Jesus abhorred legalism, a perfect example being the Sabbath. “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath”.
In your story, if Frank returned to America and setup a non-profit which used the proceeds of his investment income to feed the poor, could it be said he was not serving God? If God had told him to buy apple stock? If he didn’t care about his material possessions?
How can we serve God if we can’t properly take care of ourselves, our families and communities? I would much rather be able to gift a friend in need money than tell them I have nothing because I have an incomplete view of Christian wealth.
Is it difficult for a man to accumulate wealth without money becoming his master? Infinitely, the path is narrow. Does it mean that we should live like paupers and rely on others to provide for us? No.
